AlterEgo Takes Young Reporters to the Jock Wadley Cycle Race
13 March 2011
The Jock Wadley cycle race takes place each year in Colchester and sees some of the best UK teams battle it out for first place. We took a group of young reporters from the 8 schools in Colchester that we've been working with to experience the sport of cycling.
And what an experience it was. We met the old mayor of Colchester, himself a big cyclist and helping to steward the race. We also met up with the coach of Rapha Condor, one of the biggest and most successful cycling clubs in the UK. On top of all this we got to see some of Britain's hopefuls cycle around the Essex countryside right in front of us.
The Jock Wadley is a race with more history than most British races – it was first held in 1982 and the list of previous winners boasts a host of international bike riders and Olympians. It’s a race that stands out as one to win on the British calendar and this year the title was taken by Marcin Bialoblocki from the Motorpoint Team.
Thank you to the organisers for letting us come to report.
